Me too, plus `hub merge $PR_URL` in order to merge PRs locally with the same commit message as if I had pressed the "Merge Pull Request" button on GitHub. I do this in order for the merge commit to be signed.

I have two similar mappings, four finger tap is a middle click (or cmd+click) and four finger click is cmd+shift+click. That way if I want to open a link in a new tab I can choose between opening it behind the current tab or in front.

Personally, as an iOS developer, this is by far the biggest announcement. Haven’t had the chance to dig deeper, but the comparison between the UITableViewController and that snippet containing just declarative code looks absolutely promisin

Aaron Patterson (aka tenderlove), Ruby and Ruby on Rails contributor, has a good post titled "YAGNI methods are killing me" where he points out the problems when inheriting from builtin classes such as String or Hash. https:/

I've written about this topic before. Maybe it convinces you that you should (almost) always use timestamptz. https://phili.pe/posts/timestamps-and-time-zones-in-postgres...

I've written a post about timestamp vs timestamptz and the only valid reason for timestamp I could come up with is exactly this, scheduling events in the future: https://phili.pe/posts/timestamps-and-time-zones-in-

I’ve noticed with a few colleagues when pairing that they were rather slow at typing and made plenty of mistakes. Then I realized that they were not touch typing and always had to look down for the backspace key. I was quite surprised to se

I used Tipp10 about 12 years ago when I forced myself to learn it. What worked for me is to do the basic lessons and then always use touch typing without looking whenever on a keyboard. You’ll be slower initially, but speed will increase ov

> What do you think "to kill you" is? Infinitive. The predicate is "need" in this case. Swapping the order might make it clearer: You need to be exposed to a lethal dose all at once for cyanide to kill you.

Indeed, but I just learned about the DOM mutation API[1], that can be used here. This also makes sense when additional content is loaded later via AJAX (was achieving that with setInterval ). 1: https://developer.mozilla.org

I guess I’ll have to inject some JS to delete ping attributes while browsing in Safari. This move is very counter to Apple’s privacy stance.

The Swift code base uses something similar that the core team wrote: GYB, Generate Your Boilerplate. It’s used to generate several variants of similar code that would be cumbersome to maintain otherwise. https://github.com/a

Thanks, much appreciated. At least for me, writing an article like that takes time and lots of thought (plus forces you to grok the stuff deeply). I wish I could write more often (or at least, carve out the time and energy for it), haven’t

If you're looking for a simple sum type without associated value, the standard library's enum works quite well: https://docs.python.org/3/library/enum.html

Swift supports this. Having said that, I don't think I've encountered it in the standard library. I recently started using the Decodable protocol and was surprised to find out that the `decode` methods all take an explicit type, e
