I would love to see an EverNote/OneNote replacement that was based on the filesystem and git. In addition to a great web UI, any client could then access and edit notes via git. Sync could be provided with Github or your own repo. Mayb

At my company we've been using Graphite and StatsD for nearly two years now, we rely on it heavily for tracking performance and troubleshooting issues. We rely on Icinga, Pingdom, NewRelic and other tools to alert of us of problems. Of

I think the main problem with the ST2 icon is that it looks like a disk drive. I often ignore it because in my brain, I assume it's a disk and not an editor.

Focus is not just about what you choose to work on at a high level. Avoiding distractions day-to-day is a bigger part of it. Many people I have worked with complain that they want to focus on "one thing at a time", but that doesn't mean it

If it was clear that ST2 can make your team happier, then I would expect you to gain political capital for the purchase and not lose it!

I see what you are saying, but the cards as presented don't really reference the iOS UI. Maybe I'm just too used to the web app.

Love this app, and it's wonderfully to finally have it on the iPad. I think they did some really smart things with the UI, for instance, being able to adjust the space used for comments/description, the navigation at the top of the card, et

Interesting: they are shutting down the Blackberry app. Either the app was terrible and never used, or they see Blackberry as a dying platform.

Can I ask what laptop you got? I'm seriously thinking of coming back to Linux if I can get something that "just works".

Reading this makes me want to keep developing on a MacBook. I love Linux, but when I'm reminded of all the wasted time and hacks spent on configuring hardware and researching problems, it makes me happy to stay trapped with OSX.

You don' know what you're talking about. I lead the web team for local.ch, we have 4mil unique clients a month and handle 10k requests per minute in peak traffic. Our site is developed in Ruby on Rails, with average response times from in t

The redesign is an improvement, but the usability is still miserable. The main nav with "solution centers" is really just sponsors. The fake download banners and links are so misleading. These attempts to get users to click on links makes m

Growing infrastructure by orders of magnitude makes more sense to me, and is often how I hear the term used. I was at a conference in Berlin a few years ago and Joyent gave a talk about scaling which touched on this very topic. The argument

Our company has a corporate account but none of the employees want to use it for this reason. If we could make "corporate" folders and share them using the same account, but not lose the storage credit, that would rock.

I don't see the value in this service since markup conversion is built in to so many free libraries and services. What is the use case for this and who needs such as service?

I don't see why so many people think of typography and color as central to UX/UI. I believe these are just as small part of the puzzle. Great interfaces are not just nice to look at - they communicate well. For me, great UX/UI is about the

I think Term::ANSIColor has become the standard for Ruby, it's included by Capistrano and other popular gems now: https://github.com/flori/term-ansicolor - defunkt's gem has not been touched in 3 years.

In my experience most Rails deployments and CI setups depend on Github being up. While it's possible to bundle and copy code on deploy rather than checkout from the server, most projects don't. So of course you can continue developing local

Yes, read the patent. It covers a lot more than that specific case, which is why the title is vague and is exactly why governments should step in and stop this madness.

What's really wild is if you do CMD+d several times and then move around with the arrow keys. Multiple cursors follow you around. I'm not sure if this is useful, but it's certainly cool.
