Having the possibility to create an HTTP RESTful interface to many Lambda functions running on AWS is the biggest advantage of the AWS API Gateway. Technically, stretching the system a bit, one could argue that we don't need backend so

Yes, Kong plans to add support for PostgreSQL ( https://github.com/Mashape/kong/issues/331 ). In the meanwhile you can outsource Cassandra to cloud providers like https://www.instaclustr.com For tes

In this case you have two options. 1) Hope that the bubble will burst far ahead in the future to give you enough time to diversify. 2) Double-down with the resources you have, but this involves risk. You have different options here, dependi

Kong[1] is releasing OAuth 2.0 support in a week or so (when 0.4.0 will be announced). You will see it appear in the plugin gallery[2] [1] https://github.com/mashape/kong [2] http://getkong.org/plugins&

Flexibility and being able to easily add extra functionality is the underlying philosophy of Kong ( https://github.com/Mashape/kong ), of which I am one of the core contributors. We are accepting pull-requests from the c

On a side note, for microservices that expose a RESTful API I would also take a look at Kong ( https://github.com/Mashape/kong ) for delegating common functionality like security or rate-limiting.

All the data that Kong stores (including rate-limiting data, consumers, etc) is being saved into Cassandra. nginx has a simple in-memory cache, but it can only be shared across workers on the same instance, so in order to scale Kong horizon

This is neat. You might want to check out KONG ( https://github.com/Mashape/kong ) instead of putting a plain nginx in front of the containers/microservices. It is built on top of nginx too, but it provides all the
