How many packets are a crime? I understand if you want to arrest the RBNs of the world, but unfortunately it's more frequently some random person who are made an example of. I don't think the question is if what these people did was wrong,

A couple of months ago a Swedish newspaper ran a story describing a case of assault, taking place on a ferry from Sweden to Finland[1]. Freely translated with a bit of help from google: The film shows how the two men drops Christer with pun

In my experience the more variable argument often comes last, presumably for easy reuse. For example... $chown user1 file1 $chown user1 file2 $ln -s file1 file2 $ln -s file1 file3 ...seems more likely than... $chown user1

While interesting, this attack is old. A newer "variation" on this is with HTTP POST instead of headers. http://www.darkreading.com/vulnerability-management/16790102... http://www.owasp.org/images/4/43/Layer_7_DDOS.pdf

I can't say I was surprised by Amazons actions, but somewhat by their motivation behind those actions. I think this should serve as a wake up call for founders who maybe to easily trust a third party with essential parts of their business.

"This is a bad thing", "This one is a bad thing", "This is a bad thing". I don't think that kind of reasoning is the best way to question peoples ability to think rationally. There might be "bad things" in these leaks, but that the natural

"I am flagging any new posts I see" I agree with you that this particular story is somewhat inappropriate. The Swedish prosecution obviously have done a terrible job, but "who did what and when" is pure gossip. On the other hand this is the

That's it not how things tend to work out in my experience. Resources are almost never limited in the way you describe. Even if they are you would have to know the same people would be doing something better, which most of the time you don'

I agree it's somewhat of a stretch, but not completely irrelevant. I don't mean on an individual level, but more the overall political climate. For instance George W. Bush might not have been re-elected if it wasn't for the wars. I think it

I can't help to think that if the US people, media and government hadn't been so busy "fighting terrorism", then events like hurricane Katrina, the BP oil spill, subprime mortgage crisis and the following recession could, if not have been a

I think it's fair from a hacker ethics perspective as long as it doesn't make it directly harder for others to do the same thing i.e. by being exclusive in some way.
