What was the outcome of that, did he find his cofounder from that thread?

I'm not a big notetaker, so truthfully I probably won't try your app. But out of curiosity I watched your youtube video demo, and I have to say, I really like how the website looks. Simple, pleasant colors (for me anyways, but not

You must have a good napper if you have time to get into a programming mindset during their naps! Congrats!

Not in NYC, but I wish you the best of luck. Getting ideas like this tried out and tested is important to proving there is a better way to act as responsible stewards. I hope it succeeds!

So true. Oh wait, I took that exit. No wait I didn't. No wait, I'm back on the entrance ramp!

Ah, thanks for the response. My confusion is that in American building, the term sheathing usually just refers to the outer layer of plywood that nails to the studs. Edit to add: this really hasn't changed all that much in the past 100

Thanks for asking this. I've never thought of the implications of re-gen braking when slowing down!

Something I've noticed over my roughly decade career, having ~10 managers during this time... If you're not having interesting conversation directly related to your work during 1:1s, it's likely that things are going well for

This mirrored my (much longer) experience at Amazon a bit. The internal tooling is just absolutely awful, _especially_ the newer stuff NAWS stuff. The log4j incident was an absolute nightmare for many teams in Amazon, and the sad thing is t

Seems like the layoffs were not announced well, with many people still not knowing whether they are or are not impacted, and no clear message from the top. Shameful, especially contrasting to how recent layoffs were handled by Meta and Stri

It's been interesting to watch the Signal arc. From tech darling to "why do they think I want this" / "time to move on to what's next".

I was considering this same point myself this past weekend. Very odd, but I suspect we'll never know unless there's some obviously catastrophic event in the future.

I usually dislike processes like what you describe as they normally just add friction, even if there are good parts. But as a senior eng, I find your list very good. Thanks for sharing!

This is really overlooking the complications that MANY women have with pumping: supply drops, increased mastitis (the pumps are not nearly as effective as the real thing), and most of all, lack of real time response to the babies needs. Jus

Completely agree with this comment. Having two kids is the best thing that's happened to me in life. Sure it's hard, especially early on. But to see them grow and make the right decisions is a better feeling than any work project

I tried avoiding the iPhone bandwagon for practically a decade, going from flip phone to the HTC Droid Incredible, to some HTC M<#>, to Samsung S4, and then a series of Pixel phones, starting with the OG Pixel, and ending with the Pix

Signal consistently has been a poor UX for me. Sure it's super secure and that's nice. But I don't really care about the security of the convo with my aging parents. I care that they can easily respond to me. I'm happy w

This is neat. I remember learning some Lua in order to write some custom Redis functions, and I was blown away by how handy of a language it can be. The indexing definitely tricked me a few times though.

I highly doubt that. The extent of your usage of an iPhone is rarely mandated, and most people I know use the iPhone primarily for photos, iMessage, a browser (usually Chrome? At least in my circle) and an email account. For those functions

I came to dislike standup at Amazon. Everyday we had one to start the day, and people never talked about their blockers. Some folks would give a super brief overview of what they did and will do. This was fine, but not really interesting to

I think it's not the bottom of the fall, but I do think it's a pretty clear fall. Facebook is the new MySpace, and Instagram is not attracting the newer generations. The metaverse is a wild moonshot to invent a completely new mark

Given the lower limit, and upper limit only seems right. The world that formed 79 year old Biden, or 76 year old Trump, is not the same world that we live in today.
