Why is docker for Mac a thing and docker for FreeBSD would not be possible? My understanding is that it's just VMs. Don't they have VMs in FreeBSD?

I agree with you, it definitely counts as a change for me too. I don't think contracting is ideal to find a "family" like atmosphere because such places are probably reluctant to use contractors (there are other benefits of c

It's probably related to the fact that parent "has gone through a number of different workplaces in the last 6 years". I have been working at the same place for the last 9 years, it's much easier to build a "family&

Indeed! Linux on VAX effort seems to only have traces on the internet until 2001 (which is apparently one year after VAX was discontinued by its maker). I'm now curious to know where those 20+ year old computers can be found? I guess a

I always read about NetBSD fantastic portability. I wonder though, in practice, is there any hardware that NetBSD supports that Linux doesn't?

You can offload some or all of the hashing to the client side. I heard this technic called "Server relief".

I think the author's point is that it would still pretty easy to "sh -c" yourself if needed, and at least you would have to be aware you are doing that.

I use counsel-jq occasionally, and my main issue with it is the single line input. As soon as the filtering is not trivial, it's much more convenient to be able to use multiple lines.

I guess it all depends where you make the "OS" stop :) I'd say the kernel, the drivers and the JVM are already enough to say that Android is not "mostly written in java". And that's not not to talk about whate

Which part of Android is written in java? The kernel? The drivers? The JVM ? I somehow doubt anything significant of the OS itself is written in java :)

Yes there are exceptions, but the general rule is that payment in cash are limited in amount. I was just illustrating parents comments that having cash payments limited in amount is not science fiction.

Of course any state can go bad. It's the collective duty of the citizens to make sure that doesn't happen. I'd be curious to know how cash helps people in china for example. Is it common to have people flee the country with b
