Out of curiosity, how do you come around assessing it as high-quality code? By what measure(s)?

I think the GP meant that some users feel so entitled that they are not even trying to ask nicely. The attitude. He didn't discard the notion of non-paying users asking for features at all. Edit: typo

If I understand the matter correctly, FFI-ing with a language that has runtime has more friction in extra overhead of initializing runtime, i.e. more state management in your app. Not that it is not doable. EDIT: maybe indeed someone more k

I remember at Standard Chartered they have a Haskell monolith project of a few million LoC and they are relying on incremental building. [1] I wonder why that wasn't an option for facebook. [1] From podcast: http://www.haske

Totally sympathize with your comment, but, playing devils advocate, > 26^12 = 9.542895666×10^16 You could say adding 5 special chars "cheaply" doubles (formally) the search space without affecting how many chars users have to m

I wonder what principles a judge in the U.S. justice system? Is it only constitution? Can people somehow adjust what makes a judge? (speaking of competency in privacy matters)

Appreciating the sentiment, I would like to add that a great framework builds a great community around itself, which helps (A LOT) sort out (in the worst case work around) all sorts of issues. And this holds for Rails.

Yes, it's all about nulls. I was curious to break it down from Curry-Howard correspondence (Types as Propositions) point of view. The line static class Constrain<A, B extends A> {} reads as for all propositions A and B

To my knowledge syntax within a file is completely checked when that file is loaded. I think the OP referred more to errors in method and other reference names.

Your nickname rings the bell. Aren't you https://github.com/tarcieri ? If so the "tl; dr:" sounds strange considering your celluloid-based eco-system. Edit: which I consider, at least to date, a bit orthogona

His opinion. But I agree with you that this is undeserved. Perhaps it would sound less toxic/ungrateful if/when he publishes (to free online access) a part of his book that is equivalent to LYAH (in terms of covered material).

On the contrary, I think that is a good side of Chris Allen (@bytemyapp), he truly believes that everyone (I'm not even narrowing it down to software engineers) has capability to comprehend the core ideas of Haskell and become as profi

Those are good points. A followup thought I had is that it (the Garbage Collector) doesn't have to clean everything up in predetermined constant time once it's been deployed. Performance would be sufficient, if, for a given interv

The OP article probably means rDNS lookup, where IP is resolved to DNS name. For consumer IP's it would look something like 12-23-45-234.gw123.vietnamtelecom.net. Edit: which usually gives a better idea of the host's origin than r

Not an expert at all in any sorts of font issues, but I remember having something similar with unfortunate settings of font `Hinting` and `Antialiasing`. My current settings are: Medium and Grayscale respectively. (on Gnome Shell)
