I'm sure they must share some infrastructure, especially the small local providers, but after the fire there were a dozen vans parked outside, each putting up new cables. So at that point, each one has its own cables.

I have a second fiber connection and found out recently that both fibers come along the same route and when a fire took out a utility pole, I lost both connections. I then found out that all providers bar one (there are 5 or 6) come along t

If you take all 53 8 bit primes, you can use modular arithmetic with a residue base to work with numbers up to 64266330917908644872330635228106713310880186591609208114244758680898150367880703152525200743234420230 This would require 334 bits

Apple has turned computers into luxury items. They are not simply computers, there is some status and image projection involved. As a hacker and tinkerer I could never justify the cost of purchasing one of their machines, but I see people a

In recent years I have been going less and less to banks. 20 years ago I would go monthly to pay some bills. Nowadays, I must visit a bank once or twice a year tops. My manager frequently sends me messages, but invariably he is trying to se

I'm currently reading Heretics by the Cuban writer Leonardo Padura. The plot centers around a Rembrandt stolen from a Jewish family that tried to flee to Cuba in the 1930s and a big part of the story follows a young Jewish artist that
