Makes me wonder if we shouldn't just assign each building a code. It could be quite short: four letters and four digits would give you nearly half a billion possibilities.

One mechanism which was sometimes used for more expensive software was a dongle connected to the parallel port.

Reminds me of a hack with X.25 networks. Certain packet types werent billed, so people used them to communicate (something like hiding information in ICMP packets).

The thing I really cared about was being able to swap the battery. So I got a Neffos C5 many years ago. When time came to swap the battery, I could only find crappy ones (probably used) from China. So, while I see this as positive, I'l

I can't imagine it being worthwhile to take a bike very far unless it is a very expensive bike. If they are normal bikes, you would have to transport them in numbers, and it would be hard to explain it if you got caught. And you would

The absolutely worst is hybrid with no fixed schedule, which is my current situation. We have quotas, and they don't take into account sick leaves or holidays. I have to pray I won't have to go to the office on my gym days.

All the cinemas in my city show exactly the same films. There are 15 films being shown; only 2 are for kids. This is a city of 1.5 million people. I want to go to the cinema, I want to take my kids, but there's nothing on!

Brazil had a restricted market for computers in the 80s. They too had to work with obsolete machines, but I don't think that was the main mistake. The mistake was to not popularise computers and educate people about them (as the Britis

I'm not in the US and you can easily be 8h-10h away in my state too. The funny thing is that you could be in a neighbouring state or even country and be closer to the office than some cities.

My firm won't even allow remote work outside of the state. The reasoning is that you might have to be called to the office on short notice.
