Sometimes those enterprise tools are used mostly as glorified spreadsheets. I see a lot of BI tools that are really being used to make big spreadsheets.

I really like my old Kobo, but I was a tad disappointed when I had to swap the screen. It's a very shoddy build. The screen is glued to the board and the battery is soldered. I felt like it was made to break when you try to open it.

My father is a retired physics professor. I tried debating him once about an aqueduct in a town near us that was built in the early XX century. His view is that it was moronic because communicating vessels had already been known for centuri

I think ads targeted at minors should be banned outright. I think of ads as business proposals and minors cannot engage in business without their parent's approval. Of course, things might get murky with regards to teens, because they

I administer a few Postgresql databases and some extensions are really important for us. Foreign Data Tables, for instance, are great for interconnecting with other databases. I've also heavily used Java stored procs before. Postgresql

I've had an issue with gitlab feature flags when gitlab became unavailable. I couldn't fire a new deploy and the system wouldn't work until gitlab came back to life. That was a stupid dependency.

The irony is that Oracle makes sure that things are complicated and buggy enough to require support. I once had to use a patch to be able to run an installer. That should have been the low point of my Oracle career but no! I've also ha

I've recently wasted many hours on a machine owned by a family member that crashed randomly with Win10. It has a Gen2 i5, 16GBs of RAM, and an SSD. A fine machine for a home user, but Win11 won't install and in the end I just reve

In a socialist country, you would have a government entity (backed by a public bank) build houses and give them to workers or sell them at a loss or with subsidised interest rates. This is purely a misguided (maybe corrupt) government polic

You need to build houses. The government has to plan neighbourhoods, finance the building, extend public transport. The market is great at selling gadgets, but health, transport, education, housing, have to be directed by the government.
