Really nice. Cool mechanic. I wish it was a little bit harder, though. At 2000m, I just sort of got bored, because the weapon was so powered up that all of the enemies died instantly.

In what way does this disincentivize anyone? If you want to stay home with your kids, stay home with your kids. This is literally not preventing anyone from being a stay at home parent.

I want a browser in my apps, not apps in my browser. The whole thing has just gone completely backwards in the last 20 years. Browsers make terrible operating systems. People live in their browsers because they have to, not because they wan

Core memory unlocked. I don't know how I ever forgot about these two games, but somehow I did. This looks incredible, and I'm very excited to check it out.

Definitely feels like that effect is more likely to be explained by the Great Depression and World War II than anything else.

Lots of improvements here (hopefully), but still no image generation updates, which is what I'm most eager for right now.

It's definitely an issue. Even the simplest use case of "create React app with Vite and Tailwind" is broken with these models right now because they're not up to date.

They even priced it so people would avoid using it. GPT-4.5's entire function was to be the anchor of keeping OpenAI in the news, to keep up the perception of releasing quickly.

I would consider this a case of "expectation management"-based versioning. This is a release designed to keep Gemini in the news cycle, but it isn't a significant enough improvement to justify calling it Gemini 3.0.

We can have both. I think we need both. Some problems are better suited to solutions coming from outsiders. Most are not. We don't know which are which.

That was the first thought I had, too! Glitch in the Matrix, anyone?

This is definitely true. I'm working on a project to recap 2024 HN. Two things that immediately jumped out at me: 1. 40% of the posts/comments in all of 2024 came from accounts created IN 2024. There are a LOT of new people on HN.

Nice work, overall, this definitely has the feel of an old console game. I downloaded and played through the first world. Really cool gameplay, very intuitive. I assume the challenge increases on future worlds? Two pieces of game-related fe

Not the asker, but I have the same curiosity, as this phenomenon does not seem to occur with other words in English. I suspect it has something to do with "lose" being the only English word with the "oo" vowel followed b

Can we put the title of the book in quotes? The title currently reads like this link points to a review of Vienna, the city. It would be more clear if it read Review of "Vienna: How the City of Ideas Created the Modern World".

It took me about 5 minutes to figure out that Perplexity wasn't the product I needed. I'm not sure this is either, but we'll try it out just the same.

I'm a huge fan of increasing minimum wage, but this definitely still impacts smaller companies, who have to compete for the same labor pool. Hard to hire people at $15/hr when your competition is hiring them at $20/hr.

Not sure I have an opinion on the actual formula, but I do think there are some other data that would be useful here. Precipitation frequency should also be considered. For example, Seattle is considered a "rainy" city, because it

It's a bit of both, really. The typical computer or mobile user doesn't have general purpose computing knowledge or expertise. They don't know how their computer works or what any of the things in it ARE. They know how to fol

I love the idea and I'm thrilled to see more sites like this out there. But I do think this assumes a level of computer literacy that isn't consistent with typical, non-technical users. Step 1 starts with: > Pick a location on

I just saw this notice, and I'm not happy about it. Sometimes I want ChatGPT to forget things. Honestly, this makes me more likely to roll my own assistant with the API (or a competitor) than to continue using ChatGPT. Being able to cr

For ByteDance it's a bad look. The Chinese government probably doesn't look at it that way. From their perspective, allowing ByteDance to sell looks a lot like allowing the US to dictate Chinese policy, which is anathema to party

"Unaccompanied minors" require an escort to and from the gate, so they are only unaccompanied on the flight itself. For truly unaccompanied minors (who do not require an escort), the age limits are as stated above.
