How amazing would it be to discover that an ancient civilization existed with a technology level on par with the iron age or so? I guess if we were finding dinosaurs though the odds we wouldn't have found anything from that time are ma

I'm surprised the employees aren't making a buy out offer at this point. I'd love to own a reasonable fraction of the company I work for at that sort of price and would happily throw in some of my savings.

The embeddings are used by algorithms, not people, generally. You could ask something like "what's the most similar place to X within Y", and it would using the embeddings (which cover a variety of facts) to calculate answer.

The approach seems to focus on selecting optimizations to apply for LLVM (e.g., imagime: should this be inlined as an example), but the worst case is that the code is poorly optimized, you can't select optimizations to apply and get a

This kind of application of LLMs is most interesting to me, since it's possible to evaluate correctness and performance quantitatively.

The diffraction grate (not gate, it is gating but it's a grate) has a number of possible diffraction modes dependent on the angular range of the DMD (an array of tiny mirrors that flip back and forth between two positions). In this cas

I don't think so, I think it's more like sweeping an image across multiple sensors over time using the grating (probably via one of the piezo optical effects?) But I'm not familiar with your terminology, so maybe that's

Heh, I guess there are board states that are not possible to reach through a valid sequence of moves, but I guess otherwise it's not possible that games are more compressable by definition, since any valid board state could be represen

I think this is more like caching the regex than creating it at compile time? Load time I think is basically runtime. I think lisp can be loaded and then rehydrated later, but I'm not sure how common that is.

I don't want to get in to deep. But they said "lose money on each sale" not that the fee would be greater than your revenue. If you make $1 in revenue, pay 90 cents in various fees, and then 20% (20 cents) to unity, you'

Pragmatically, many people enjoy indie games as much (or more) than AAA games. AAA games are more oriented towards making money and mass market appeal, and if we don't provide a market for indie games then we lose out on the specialty

Wholesale electricity prices are based on the marginal cost of electrical generation. As a result, wholesale costs will generally be driven by the cost of natural gas generation.
