From what I understand, it is the STT engine that is the issue - and is in fact not a solved problem at all. Specifically, in a conversation where the microphones hear 3 people talking, 1 of them talking _at_ us, we need to pick out _that_

Let’s just say there is. Scuttlebutt says there was at least a microphone pick up redesign and a timing redesign because the diarization model loss curve was crap - and given what I hear from the rest of the industry on auto0diarization in

It’s not that simple - when implementing this one runs into the issue that detecting self speech is a solved problem - BUT detecting the speech of a person talking AT you in a restaurant is not nearly that easy - this is known as diarizatio

Many large financial operations - HFT such as Hudson River Trading or Optiver or IMC or Citadel, or the big C++ systems in the banks - 200-400 developers working on an ecosystem of components can easily clear that.

Yeap! Also - all modern systems in active use have invariant tsc. So even for migrating threads - one is ok.

You generally want the following in trading: * mean/med/p99/p999/p9999/max over day, minute, second, 10ms * software timestamps of rdtsc counter for interval measurements - am17 says why below * all of that not just

Double spaces in paths seem to screw it up - as well as high-bit characters - like a username. Uppercase seems to be finicky as well.

Smb over 25gbit networks - user space samba is much worse there.

I mean - of course the entirety of financial markets are not zero sum - it would indeed be almost lunacy to claim that :) My point is that there's a big part of the financial markets that _are_ zero-sum - not that all financial markets

Personally know of 1 from Ghana and 1 from Nigeria - both engineers in HFT - both emigrated to the US post-college - so not that rare. Is it proportional to population? Of course not. Clearly there's going to be an english-speaking bia

While there's many definitions, I'd concentrate on zero-sum vs non-zero-sum games. Lots of games in trading are effectively zero-sum games - if I make 100USD, you lose 100USD (there's details about transaction costs going to

I don't really see a lot of elitism in these circles - there's a chunk of such engineers that did not in fact go to Exeter and Harvard - but what they have in common is they are all to a fault very bright technical people that can
