Apple had no choice but to make its own maps. IOS5 already lacked turn by turn navigation because Google would not provide it (as a competitive advantage to android). So Apple building its own maps it's mandatory. Execution has been sub par

As far as I know google pays 69% of revenue to adsense partners. But when they need extra money they can still use the highest paying ads for themselves, sending them to gmail, youtube. So yes, google is in control. Adsense partners are not

interestingly iAds have been a huge disapointment. they could not reach critical mass of advertisers. And by Job's comment yesterday against ads on iCloud, it looks like they gave up on it

Googles's motivation is money. also control. H.264 is not free. and youtube could be reclassified in 2016 to pay a further royalty increase than the maximum 10%. YouTube is the largest video service provider in the world. On the other hand

good points. yet apple has options. the iPad was priced very aggressively out of the gate, to the point of having no real competitor even now. the iPhone pricing is muddled by the carrier subscription costs. which incidentally are the best/
