I'm curious about this line in the post: "connect your LinkedIn and Github accounts to enable the free faucet" Really curious: I can see how connecting a Github account may be valuable for a company pushing a develop

Quite nice: would be nice to have a camera focused on the sign so you could change it and see it update even if you're not on the corner.

We used to have a Google auto-complete widget, but it appeared to confuse things: right now you have to bring an address list with you. We take in CSV/XLS/XLSX in generic formats, and exports from QuickBooks. We're also worki

Moderately curious: do you really believe that there is a tax rate greater than 0% that would prevent corporate tax avoidance? I mean, at 10% why wouldn't someone just make the argument that it should be 5% instead?

Java doesn't require an IDE either: emacs/Ant/Maven is all I've ever used. Barring specialized platform-specific toolsets (like Android Studio) you don't NEED anything else (you might WANT something else, but that&#

Is there an opportunity for a 3rd-party hosted Parse service? Seems like that may be an option for the folks who are currently using Parse and need to move: someone to basically run the open source service on top of AWS/Linode/Dig

Odd: Pinterest seems to me like the breakout published list platform. No one said lists have to be words only: a Pinterest board is just a list with pictures.

Neat: sounds like an event stream processor. I've done this in the past with temperature sensors using open source libraries like Esper ( https://github.com/espertechinc/esper ) and in exchange for a bit of addition

This is from 2012: is it still relevant? Question for @dang and @nick: for links to SO questions, is it possible to automatically date them if they aren't the current year?

Shame really: for a while SourceForge was THE place to go for open source software. They claim (at the bottom of http://sourceforge.net/mirror/ ) that "If you have an Open Source project outside of SourceForge, we&

Only mildly related, but this is a massively underrated point: all too many people conflate "simple" and "easy", not just here but in many other things.

Not at all surprising: got the exact same rationale for mentioning ChromeCast in the metadata of an app submission. Very confusing given the number of other apps that mention ChromeCast in the metadata, but such is life.

Those solutions do exist, but to a certain degree the point of this was not to need a phone or Chrome. It is obvious that those are the sanctioned solutions from Google's perspective, but this is an attempt to provide a different optio

Thanks for the transcoding tips: will look into that. Wasn't actually thinking about github for this: if I develop a lot of free time I might tidy it up for public consumption, but by default its not particularly well commented or docu

Thanks! Will make a note of that: I was afraid the answer would have to be ffmpeg (as it so often is with video). Was hoping for something neater, but I guess I should just be grateful for ffmpeg.

It will be available for Linux (at least Ubuntu): I just need to brush off my old scripts for generating .deb packages and I'll have something. Just didn't want to dawdle and let it fall into my pile of neglected projects.

Thanks. Will reach out once I get a chance: the video transcoding/streaming will be the real heavy lifting. This was mostly just a node-webkit exercise, but not sure how cleanly it will merge with the Chrome code you linked to.

That is coming: ran out of time and didn't want to drag my feet on actually releasing it. Video is also complicated: transcoding becomes a real requirement and its just messy to do that in a performant way. But I have something like 40
