I mean, in a Node project, if I need some internal CLI tool, I'll just write a Node script. But for distributable apps, doesn't make much sense to me either.

You hit the nail right on the head. Right after high school, both my parents lived in the same small town on the outskirts of a larger city. From my father's house, it was a 30min walk to get to the bus stop, which had one passage ever

I'm in a 3-4 story area, barely any garage doors and we can park on both sides, still parking is a shitshow.

It failed cause it took a team that worked in X way and made them work in Y way. Siloed work and faulty communication is an issue with in-person too, just differently. Happy you found something that works for you, but you're overgenera

Non German here, but pandering to greens by switching to coal sounds like pure insanity. Not that I'm surprised by much these days...

Usually I just take a quick glance at, and/or try of the main features of a language in some REPL or toy program, _then_ will jump straight to developing something to it and Google/DDG my way through. I do agree that just Googling

After rotating i3, bspwm and qtile for a while - never managing to make it "just work" as expected on every single machine I own - I gave up and went with Pop OS. Their Pop Shell extension is basically what I wanted all along - ti

It's most definitely not how you're describing it in terms of time. There's tons of extracurricular work, outside of work meetings, prep work, grading, etc. The vacations are shorter than they look, a short month, maybe. Teac

Yeah, I did scouts for a couple of years. I'd like to do some dev coaching at some point, maybe. COVID put a brake to some of my plans, but I'm having a lot of fun teaching my 4yo son in the meantime haha.

I suspect the reason it's not as daunting as it usually can be is cause it doesn't feel like it's scroll-jacking you, in a sense. When you're scrolling, it still feels like you're going "downwards". You st

If it's that important to you, it's likely in a professional setting, isn't it? I'd say most CoCs are perfectly reasonable, and you usually have to go out of your way to cross them in a professional software development
