Hmm I still don't understand why they have to use the image hack. Since they control the server on localhost they can set the CORS headers to allow all domains, then JS from a site could access localhost right?

But the image is being served from localhost no? Do image requests not abide by CORS?

Could you further explain the CORS bypass? Why do they have to do the image hack if CORS if they open up CORS on the local server? At that point couldn't they retrieve data via JS instead?

I'm a bit confused, so CORS doesn't apply when trying to load an image? If they set CORS to allow interaction from anywhere, why use an image and not load data with js?

+1 for Wand, been following them for a while. Their music has evolved quite a bit from earlier albums but they are still one of my favorites.

I don't think that's valid syntax, so it likely won't make it in their repo

Sounds cool, but even after poking through the repos I still don't fully understand what it does.

Yup, my university used Moss and caught a ring of cheaters with it. Funnily enough at my first job I actually worked on a product that was essentially Moss with a slicker UI, and it would also check online sources such as Github. It work

Yup, honestly if I didn't have the structure of university I don't think I would have made it as a self-learned dev. Don't get me wrong I enjoy programming, however I very much needed the formal education process.

I got so lucky when I did an internal transfer to CS at UT Austin. I was an economics major and wanted to give CS a try. At the time (~2013) all I had to have was a 2.5 gpa and sign a transfer document. The next year the department exploded
