I think you are confused about what the parent comment said. The point is that the n+1 problem is usually solved on the database level in case of REST and the endpoint is also changing in tandem to reflect the DB changes. There is no client

Doh. By the same logic China (or other oppressors) is not censoring anything because people can travel to Vietnam (or Japan for that matter) and they can tell anyone what they want.

We have AWS and Google cloud certifications though. I don't find those any less "enterprisy" than Microsoft to be honest. And they definitely remind me of the Java certificates of the 90s.

Something which bothers me deeply is the disconnection between the fetishism of management which is the most apparent on this website and the endless misery caused by the outcomes of 20th and 21st century corporate culture. In most western

That's not a threat. You basically say that every negative comment written by people who has no connection whatsoever with Glassdoir is a purposeful threat by Glassdoor. How does that make any sense to you?

People here for some reason think that throwing around legal terms based on gut feelings is somehow the start of civil discussion. And I tend to correct those people. That's all. Extortion is a legal term and it's pretty well defi

Calling something extortion which is a legal term and punishable by federal law is different from accusing them undermining integrity of the service. And yeah, it's scummy.

Duress? LOL. What duress? If they pay, the situation gets better. If they don't pay the situation remains the same. Your claim is ridiculous. In any case the situation never gets worse so there is no duress.

It seems to me that the bad reviews were published on the site regardless of their offer. So I can't see how is this extortion. Extortion would be along the lines of "we publish some made up bad reviews unless you pay".

It's not the same at all. A better analogy would be that you call around the influential business partners of your references that you are concerned about, and offering those business partners some money to completely disregard what th

Wow. How can someone be so naive as the Reddit poster? It has been like this forever. Glassdoor in the US, Kununu in Germany, Vorkers in Japan are all company propaganda companies. Also it's just my pet peeve but I hate it when people

This doesn't make any sense. Most IPv4 addresses change every day if not multiple times during the day. I guess you can only filter the dumbest of the dumbest this way. And if someone has the wit to open an incognito window it doesn&#x

There is a problem though. In a physical setting you cannot do shadow banning. Now in the past 100% of public discussion happened in public spaces, but let's say that now this happens in 50% of the cases online. Let's also say tha

I wonder how can shadowban work at all to begin with. It only takes 10 seconds to open a public thread in an incognito window and confirm if voting, commenting, etc indeed happened as the commenter intended or was it only happening in a pri

The idea has only accidental correlation with social media. You are pretty much wrong focusing your thinking on social media only.

Now that's a classic! I mean the way you argue, not the quote. Very nice, very classic moral relativism and postmodernism. People should never trust themselves and their understanding of the world.

Good. I mean we need more such articles, so that just like the BBC could shame the Cameroonian government into action, we can shame tech companies into action too.
