If anyone is Intel in reading this, please can you provide a lead-time for the low end FPGA (e.g. Cyclone V and Max 10) to Mouser and Digikey? I understand there is an ongoing major chip shortage but it has been over 2 years and historicall

Yes it works well. I have no need to ever change it until the hardware fails in say 20 years.

Wow, about 3 days after my five year warranty ran out. They don't hang about do they! I was planning to keep it running until the next Apple phone with 3.5mm jack. Are there any 3rd party companies providing security updates to keep su

If you want to eg add original ports and hardware interfaces that tends to be easier with an fpga: cartridges, midi etc. Of course you can do that in software/ bit bang. Though it’s complicated by emulator timing, they tend to run fram

Perhaps it is time to add some of this to the data provided when buying the parts. Number of fab companies that can make the part and if the fab equipment is active/obsolete.

Intel doesn’t seem to have enough capacity, there are no in stock intel fpgas under $2000 at Digi-Key. Try and get any cyclone v or max 10 chips.

Great news, QEMU is really great. Will have to give this a spin on the MiSTer again. I was experimenting with emulating the 68K in qemu in combination with FPGA reimplementation of the Amiga chipset. I ran into performance issues with the w

I used initially 'Blackmagic disk speed test'. This tool seems to only have an option for 1-5GB. I did not find a random or sequential option. I've definitely seen screenshots of this tool giving high read speeds using the Or

Interesting. I just bought an M1 Mac mini. I added a nvme m.2 ssd (Samsung PM9A1 + Orico SCM2T3-G40) over thunderbolt 3 and moved the admin user over. Unfortunately I had to send back the ssd and adaptor since it was reading at only 75MB&#x

FPGA does not really offer advantages of accuracy, though it does offer advantages in time precision. This is important when putting it inside a C64. Of course a much faster CPU can also be used to handle real cycle accuracy in sync with th

There are FPGA recreations too which are not software emulation. Not quite an ASIC but realistically as close it at gets at this volume. [1] https://www.fpgasid.de/ [2] https://www.facebook.com/plugins/po

This is a video of the maintainer talking about the new virtual 68k 'machine'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_ve0bCC9q4 I'm also experimenting with hybrid emulation on the mister minimig - i.e. using qemu

JACs version for the Atari 400/800 is also impressive. Using the ANTIC for character set compression and displays as overscan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiLB8PQUJtc

I'd be keen to make an FPGA based custom cpu board to go in, presuming they release port pinouts, timings and signalling details. This could be used for hardware laptop versions of legacy computers - Amiga, ST, Atari 800XL etc. Particu

I’d really love SQLite to work on the nfs and cifs. Is there anything that can be done to make that safe at a kernel level?

If anyone wants to try out programming the a8 then here is a little info: Best windows emulator: Altirra Best cross platform emulators: Atari800 and Atari++ Or if you have an FPGA board (MIST,MCC216 etc) then you can try my core available a
