Sometimes servers don't actually go into deep suspend modes because of proprietary management interfaces. Disabling those in the BIOS can result in huge savings.

What rules do you mean? I have several roundabouts near me and most have prioritized pedestrian crosswalks on all exits (Zebrastreifen), some with extra room for cars to break when they notice pedestrians. The ones lacking pedestrian priori

Don't get me wrong, I am very glad that TS exists and I am using it at least weekly. But there are inconsistencies in the type system that are very surprising to beginners because TS is trying so hard to be good at edge cases.

I don't get TypeScript's type system. It is obviously very powerful and can model very complex type constraints. But then you have stuff like this where it is not checking types as I would expect: interface Foo { bar: string;

That's true. Single file deployments were also supported in .NET Framework, only a bit obscure by registering a callback for the assembly loader and explicitly bundling every dependency as a resource in the build process.

Nowadays you don't deploy a global JRE on machines anymore. Each application has its own JRE bundled.

Being not super familiar with Go, I think C#'s async/await is similar, isn't it? If you want more complex operations, you might want to look into System.IO.Pipelines.

To be fair, .NET only recently got AOT compilation and single binary (or self-contained) deployments as officially supported features.

Why would Microsoft need to put a NSA backdoor specifically into Defender when it could put it anywhere else into Windows with their monthly patch? It doesn't make sense to single out Defender. The same is valid for Apple, Google, and

I somewhat wished that when Chrome switches to manifest v3, uBlock Origin would stop supporting Chrome and its clones. Firefox is the only browser where uBlock Origin is actually working as intended, Chrome on the other hand (even in manife

That's just bad design. There very quiet tram and railway designs available - they just cost a bit more money than the cheap 19th century designs that are still in place. Where I live in Germany the passenger trains (not even the track

I noticed that as well. I guess many people took up cycling as a leisure activity when COVID hit and suddenly noticed how dangerous cars are for them on their bicycles.

Honestly, Delphi's WYSIWYG GUI editor in the late 90s felt way more productive to me than all this Electron "cross-platform" JavaScript React thing today where you need to take of about 1000 random dependencies to render a re

Yes, this is very important. I experienced deadlocks in ASP.NET Core 2.1 when I connected a legacy application to the web with it and the developers of Microsoft.AspNetCore.Mvc.Formatters.Json forgot to add .ConfigureAwait(false) to a async

At this size you should have a local registry that acts as a transparent cache. If you don't, then get one right now. What happens if Docker's servers are down for whatever reason? Does your whole process break?
