Can you give me a scenario where I would use this. For instance when would I want to add methods to the connection type or change the protocol? Do you mean swap out the websockets protocol for some other network protocol?

Hey, this looks like a pretty interesting project. I am very curious about the tech behind this. How open are you with the code which supports the site? I am building a matching engine right now and would be very keen to talk to other peopl

From what I read about this crash the most important lesson was to have a kill switch. The biggest problem Knight Capital had was that they could not switch the system off quickly. It was roughly 45 minutes (according most accounts) between

That is true, but what is the command line tooling like for java? I build java all day inside god-awful IDEs. The last time I tried compiling Java on the command line it was really a lot of work. I suppose there is some maven support for bu

I think it is a very fair question. The first reason I want Mozilla to win here is that they don't want my data. They are pushing for stronger privacy in firefox, and although I love Chrome I don't think Google can ever support real browser

I very strongly want this to work. I am very excited about the prospect of a phone/tablet OS that I hack up apps for in Javascript. But even more than that I pray for a true competitor to iOSX/Android. They just need to get this thing movin

I agree that we don't have anything close to a perfect record. And when dotcom was raided at gunpoint I really felt that this was it. Everything you wrote above was now just the new normal, and we were just a passive conduit of foreign and

I saw Joe speak in London a year or so ago. He was a very good speaker. This three laws is a very good reflection of his plain spoken and humorous style. Whether you like Erlang you should take the time to enjoy Joe IMHO :)

I think a much better comparison is with C. C, similarly, has a paucity of features. It is also relatively easy to grasp its core. However, this has never prevented C from being used to build very powerful applications. I would like to know

While I am not a cheerleader for the JVM, I would take issue with one statement. "Java cant use even that small sum of cheap ram without huge GC pauses, and it never will." It is true that the Hotspot JVM is awful in this regard but Zing, f

I may have chosen the wrong word with 'manipulation'. I think that the school administration is unhappy that the students were told they could reasonably choose not to fill in the survey. What makes me feel uneasy here, and why I used the w

My concern is not with the intention behind the survey. I believe that the intention was very good. My concern is the idea that a teacher reminding students that they are not under any obligation to complete the survey represents manipulati
