It does help, thank you. I was thinking that I'd just have to change my process a bit to capture what I need/want to document properly. For me, a few days might as well be a year in trying to remember :-(

If trying to solve a problem and errors keep occurring, how does one capture the errors (and inputs that caused the error) in order to blog about later without disrupting the flow of problem solving? For example, I was writing a terraform s

Yeah I did the same thing about a year ago only on GCP. I tried to stay in the free tier but "hidden" networking costs got me at $20/month. The site was a blog with traffic of 1, load balancer, cloud run and storage bucket.

I grew up in midwest small town USA, around 3500 people, in the 80s. I attended monthly C64 user group and it was pretty much nothing more than copying each others software.

Not the OP but I think hosting on a VPS is valid. "Self-admin" may be a better term, I don't know. You are still "indie" and not bound to any corporate culture. You are in full control down to the OS but not the h

Just read the manual that comes with the child. /s All kidding aside, my kids are 16 and 19 and I am still trying to figure it out. Pretty sure it is a journey and not a destination.

I have read of other people getting customers/orders before actually having the product in place. But my doomsday mind has a hard time shaking what happens if you can't follow through? Is it as simple as refunding the money? A si

Great point. Thanks for sharing. I admit I get the cart before the horse. I'm not looking for life changing money, but it would be nice to actually be able to submit a $500 mrr project here on HN. These are my favorite threads

I think it does. How did you get your farmer network set up? Reminds me of https://www.vidaliaonions.com/ . The guy who started that bought the domain before he knew what he was going to do with it.

Just a few weeks ago I was on a trip through back roads of NC and VA and saw a bunch of historical markers and wondered how to do something with them. And now I know. My thinking was to stop and get a gps coordinate and then what? How do

As a former firefighter-paramedic of 14 years which I left in 2020, our LifePak monitors went up to 360J. We did use self adhesive pads and never once did I have any odd smells after "welding" someone. We used stacked sequence,

Wasn't Windows 7 a rebranding of Vista with some improvements, maybe just lipstick on a pig but still, I really don't know. I do know I liked Win 7 way better than Vista.

How does one go about testing how good a GC is or isn't? I'm most interested in SBCL and JVM.

Nice looking page? Did you design it? If so, where did you get the graphics? My design work looks like a kindergartener drew it with a fat crayon on Big Chief paper! ;-)

I left STEM (non-CS/software) and became a firefighter-paramedic in 2006. I spent 14 years and left in 2020 when Covid was the rage. From 2010-2015 I got a masters in CS as a back up plan in case I got hurt or sick and couldn't
