Kinda sad that in 2026 1TB and 62GB of RAM is considered "beefy". We had 1TB iPhones for 5 years. The only reason for this huge speedbump is that chip makers have been dragging their feet for the last 10 years with "just en

I don’t think it's the same at all. Nobody is interested in watching computers play against each other, so he still can do what he loves. He didn't suddenly have to work with/through machines now.

AI is like being a manager. To someone who was never interested in that, it certainly feels like your new job is not as good.

Really. I think snake oil sellers were so popular because people believed them. It's no different today. Today you can recognize snake oil scams, most people can't. Nothing has changed. Millions of people still fall victims to pyr

The point of app stores is that they somehow curate the experience. They can't do that if you just ship a bookmark. Also I don't think web views in most app stores (namely mobile stores) ship an entire browser. As a matter of fact

To me the most common issue for apps is that they don't have tabs. Damn we solved this issue in IE7 and I'm still limited to "one window" on my supercomputer-level pocket PC. Inconceivable. I'll keep using the app i

Sorry but this isn't the 70s. Even businesses expect devices to somewhat work out of the box so it's completely unreasonable to everyone except people who buy things like Raspberry PI, which are a tiny minority.

My solution is to ask them for proof of work. Many of these disappear after opening a PR that they never tested. How can you claim to have fixed a visual issue without a screenshot? Insta-close.

I feel that way for open source and programming in general. I don’t think it's going to be a thing anymore in just a couple of years. Even now I see people already don't look at any of the code they release.

I mean, that is no different than any other provider. If you want to degoogle, you still have to go to each site and change your staticuser@gmail.com individually. Most users already do not use custom domains if that's the catch.

Absolutely this. Thais love saying they've never been colonized, but conveniently forget to mention that 40% of their territory was colonized and permanently lost.

You're not wrong, but with anything digital it's as easy as moving outside the country. With the EU being one and many at the same time, all you need is to set up shop in Bulgaria and good luck prosecuting me. I'm actually i

It's funny and sad to see polite people run into scammers. I witnessed to a young man being almost unable to keep saying "no" for the 20th time to an insistent seller on a beach. When it happens to me, they're met with s

What does that have to do with the general state of the whole industry? "Scamming" rarely falls into proper "jobs" anyway.

What's google search? The product as we know it is effectively dead. There is no future in which the URL bar isn't just an AI chat input. It's up to the model to search for you, if it decides that's the fastest way to an

To be fair this mostly happens on my OSS repos where I'm bombarded by junk AI PRs by people who never bother to actually read and talk like a human. So I scold them, block them and close everything they open.

I guarantee that the major players will offer straight-to-CEO interfaces where the user provides ALL info and AI will proceed to orchestrate the entire company, from finances to deployment. We're screwed, without protection.

Any change is a breaking change. The release cleaned things up, this inevitably led to deprecated parts being dropped and unwanted/undefined/outdated behavior being changed. Just because it's marked as "no feature"

Could be that they lack details at this point, but I rate them all from trash to less-trash. Switzerland has had some outstanding bills forever right in the center of Europe, but the EU comes out with this uninspired garbage.
