I was typing something in response, but I think the best advice is advocating mental health services. Sorry if that violates the rules.

In case any redditors are here, anyone can set up a LLC in California for like $300. I am and have been in a bunch of them, but we've never been successful enough to look into Panamanian services :/

Majority are likely small-time landlords, local investors, and etc, as it is very easy to set up an LLC. Also, I wonder if HNers describe their startups as "anonymous shell companies"?

Well, Google is probably going to have to pay Oracle a lot of money, so I guess you can wander around mumbling about relevancy , despite whatever facts are noted by the courts.

It is the most relevant thing when judges started disagreeing with Google's take on the law. Sun wanted money for X, Google didn't want to pay for X. (And IBM didn't want money for SQL.)

Almost certainly IBM was a major contributor to the SQL standard. Since the entire point of a "standard" is to encourage third-party adoption, so it would rather difficult to sue anyone, imo. Sun set up a certification process for

My understanding is that the old MacOS Classic "Blue box" dates back to making System 7 virtualizable on A/UX. The issue at the time is the typical Unix/X11 graphical application was not really impressive compared to wha

Probably right on the rationale, but I cannot remember anyone using FAX as a symbol. But, not the only obsolete bit of technology in Unicode though.

In USA, stores in chinatown openly sold multi-region DVD players. But outside of immigrant communities, most Americans had no reason to know or care about this. (Also bittorrent was a thing in 2006 so many ppl had moved away from physical d

I wish I had forgotten about this. Hopefully this webcomic's persistence is actually due to it being a PERL script riffing on dadjokes.txt and whatever reddit lol monkee cheese stuff from 2012.

Ya, but the snark at the time was that Jobs was such a great salesman he sold a dead OS to those dumb suckers at Apple for $400M. (Of course they were really buying Jobs & team.) Still took about 6-8 years for that OS to get good.

NeXT workstations and OS were not successful, and at this point had largely been shelved. WebObjects was the only thing which they had which was profitable. Most customers were developing/deploying on NT, which (I assume) is why Jobs i

Right, for those who never used Friendster, you could only see friends-of-friends (to a certain degree of separation). So people would friend the profiles of bars and etc to see more people.

Redhat EL provides this. There are various engineering reasons for why they don't care for it in the Linus kernels. So it seems nobody wants to invest the engineering effort to do this for Android.
