At least in Haskell, I don't really care for the significant white space when it's re-factoring time. I don't see how it wouldn't become more of an issue for a traditional imperative language and their tendency for large blocks.

I'm pretty much a stereotypical progressive these days. I'm not very excited by libertarian's plans to cut entitlements. More importantly, I'm rather dismayed that they seem to focus on that before civil rights.

Yeah... I've also noticed some sites for some reason won't let me re-size the text. It may be just a bug in tablet's browser but it's damned annoying.

New rule... Don't use large blocks of colors like orange. That's just plain distracting.

If we look at CPAN http://search.cpan.org/search?query=redis&mode=all , there are a few things right in the search results. We have version numbers, release dates, and a review score. All of those give you a chance at finding a half d

To be completely honest, I'm cheating. I considered doing a full mechanical clock but I'm going the micro controller and stepper motor route. There are a couple of reasons for this. First and foremost, I don't really have the space for a wo

I'm highly skeptical in terms of 3d printing and laser cutting. Laser cutting has issues with tiny pieces heating up and warping. It's something they warn you about when designing parts. Most of the 3d printed parts I've seen pictures of ha

While start up time is critical, how much time is being lost by imposing complexity on the humans? At least in my opinion that bit about binary logs makes the entire thing a no go. The absolute last thing I want in any sort of time critica

I don't think rewriting as a wrapper around sed would be an improvement. That would put you in the business of translating one regexp syntax into another which is probably more error prone.

How about expanding the right to council to equivalent resources? That way if the government spends a million trying to convict someone, they have to make an equivalent level of resources available to the defense.

Chrome has a setting to only run plugins with the user's permission. I'd advise it for anyone even remotely skilled enough to use it. I work for with quite a few java applets. Everything I need still works and the bullshit walks.

An alternate solution is to change the background for the lower order page. I do something similar for my terminal sessions. It helps me keep "prod1", "prod2", and "test" separate.

I actually tried the Cinnamon Mint boot CD last night. It seems like a nice mix between the 2. It's not as extreme on the effects as KDE while still having enough to smooth out the experience. I'll quite probably be trying Cinnamon as my pr

One of the areas where I disembark from the traditional Unix way is to replace "--dry-run" like flags with "--enable-destruction". That way I have to intentionally do the bad thing.

In this case the experience looks slightly different but works pretty much as expected. In other terms, the Java apps tend not to be the ones that piss me off on a regular basis.
