While a lot of scanners advertise crazy high resolutions, this is often just marketing mumbo jumbo. They only resolve details at half or a quarter of the claimed resolution. See www.filmscanner.info for tests of the resolution on many scann

This simply isnt true. A DSLR with a sharp macro lens is a lot better than a flatbed. A dedicated filmscanner like those made by Nikon and Minolta 15-20 years ago, is very slow, but the quality is even higher

Tmax and Delta 100 have 150 lines per millimeter, and it's even way higher for certain specialty films like Adox CMS 20 with 250 lines. Though you probably need a drum scanner to resolve to that level. For general use, a high quality s

Just for comparision, this is the quality Super 8 is capable of when shot on a good camera and professionally scanned and digitally stabilized: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Nh9BTMWj9M Obviously rather expensive to do it

That was my first thought too, Kodak Gold is not supposed to look this bad. Converting color negatives is actually quite hard. You can get good results with software such as Negative Lab Pro (Adobe Lightroom plugin), but getting anywhere cl

Choosing when to click the button is a pretty essential part of photography. "I prowled the streets all day, feeling very strung-up and ready to pounce, determined to “trap” life — to preserve life in the act of living. Above all, I

Just take photos of strip malls, parking lots, and multistate chains then. They'll look great in 40 years, like William Eggleston or Stephen Shore's work does today

Film isn't linear the way digital is. 30% under exposure doesn't give an image that is exactly 30% brighter, but may show up more as less shadow detail, compressed mid tones, etc. Also, negative film can handle a huge amount of ov

No, your top priorty should be washing the film thoroughly to get all the fix out after developing. Then store it properly in a dark and not to warm and humid area. That way, it will last for centuries (at least for black and white) and can
