This is probably why the creators of memcached and redis chose C.

Agreed. Redis is much faster out of the box with minimal tuning than this solution.

Call me when they get rid of UPDATE_ROLLBACK_FAILED until then it's practically useless. Whoever thought it was ever acceptable to leave your production stack in state that requires deleting it is an idiot. Even if they fixed it I doub

Yup, there's a lot of people driving beamers who complain about how their parents forced them into law, medicine, or engineering.

Did people stop hiring plumbers? It's difficult in North America to become a millionaire, but it's pretty trivial to escape poverty. What I often find is people would rather be poor than sell their skills to the highest bidder, eg

Interviews are like blind dates, you need to be in the social circle to have an idea of what you're getting into before you go to the interview.

The funny thing is I once asked for so much that they fired two other people. Smart people make more money, then save it and then use the fact that they have 6 months expenses saved to leverage getting even more money.

Even though I very much agree with lavabit I think it's more honest to construe it as the owner decided to shutter the business rather than comply with the spirit of the order.

They had a fucking revolution over EVADING taxes by buying tea from places other than England. They weren't avoiding taxes, they were putting guns in peoples faces covering them in tar and then feathers, throwing all the taxed tea in t

How does not being forced make a statement not disrespectful? Not having children is a perfectly valid lifestyle choice, a childless person saying that raising children contributes less to society than they do says a lot about how they fund

There are certainly people doing a poor job of raising children that are creating net losses, there are also others doing great jobs. The other thing is, the single people are the very product of this subsidy, so I'm not sure how it cr

This article really annoys me, I don't really care if people have kids or not, however, all these people doing so much for society came from people who chose to do less for society and instead raise the people doing so much for society

Roughly the same amount of land is required by everyone, if the only source of revenue is land then everyone pays the same amount of tax regardless of income. Given that employees/retail customers would no longer have to pay income tax

I prefer it to loops, I find it more concise, it makes you really think about what your code is doing when you make it recursive. Often I find subtle bugs in my loops where as with recursion the compiler seems to pick them up for me.
