For internal usage s/mime is not really that bad. Works fine with gmail. $25 a year gets you a personal cert. All my work email is encrypted. Bitpay is small enough to be able to do this without any extra infrastructure.

It could very well be an exit scam - I wouldn't want to cover it as an insurer, either. "Hey, I screwed up and sent this money to the wrong party!" without any way to show that you are not in fact still in control of the mon

The whole concept that aiding someone to beat a lie detector is a crime is ludicrous. How many sociopaths beat it without any preparation? How many people with nothing to hide exhibit a stress response at an inopportune moment? I've

I laugh when people complain about removal of /r/fatpeoplehate being censorship. The only reason that subreddit was such a problem is because of aggressive moderation and banning of users - i.e. censorship at the moderator level

Ugh, just what we need, another "pro" fractal renderer. Just search around, you can find plenty of non-free 2D ones, and it's not so easy to find a decent free 2D fractal renderer that does anything interesting, at least not

When you aren't doing work, stop thinking about work, stop talking about work. This may include time while you are physically at work. This is a hard lesson for many programmers. There is a time for thinking, but it's tempting to

Actually there are various sub-designations for unclassified material[0]. Just because it's unclassified does not mean it's not confidential, or problematic if certain individuals have access to it. The burden of classifying all

C/C++ are going to be tied to some runtime libraries but that doesn't seem like as big an externality as being tied to a particular version of an entire VM. You may prevent certain classes of of programming error with a memory-ma

There's lots of newer research on trust-based systems that could be applicable here, e.g. a game-theoretic approach where entities are gauged based on ratings over repeated transactions. Think iterated prisoner's dilemma crossed

The problem is at the intersection of welfare and work. You have to be really poor and stay really poor to qualify for most of these social programs, and the programs are designed to be pretty minimal and thereby encourage people to work.
