Now a days a lot of games you can’t even do that. They run the games in a vm so crackers and hackers can’t mod it.

To this audience yes. My wife a 38 year old college grad in law school has no clue what source code is and she’s married to a computer programmer.

Defaulting an int to 0 is understandable. Defaulting a uid to 0 is terrible (if you reread my response that’s what I said)

My first guess was defaulting the uid to -1 lol. But yeah that works too.

Take a look at the bug. It’s polkit defaulting to 0 if dbus is down for the UID. A terrible but understandable default. It has absolutely nothing to do with the systemd structure other than being a component with a bug.

The main users of my Plex server are not tech savvy. They are my parents/aunts/uncles/cousins/brothers in law/etc. I could consider other platforms but Plex works because it’s stupid simple for clients. That’s my nu

macOS though? I don’t feel very productive using their OS. I would rather have a slightly slower laptop and feel more productive. But I don’t compile anything locally or anything. It’s all in the cloud and stuff.

I’ve only used wireguard as a client but it’s simply amazing how few resources it consumes. Openvpn when transmitting data would be 10-20% my cpu on a 9th gen i3. I don’t even see a blip with wireguard.

Too lazy to look but I believe someone in a vm went from windows 1.0 to windows 7 (with all upgrades in between) and some of their personalization options from 1.0 (or maybe 3.11) were still present in 7. Insane!

But you don’t build factories to fund quarterly profits. It should be normal risk mitigation if you are dealing at that scale to have a plan B. Even if it’s your own plant.

Makes sense in hindsight. But I never thought I would have any issues running a relay. Also just got a raspberry pi v1 and was looking for a project.

running an exit node is a really bad idea. someone is going to do something dumb on Tor and the local PD isn't going to know anything about Tor and will come knock on your door. i used to run a relay and even that became too much of a

Personally I run a plex server and that one piece of hardware I’ve kept intel because of qsv. Amd has no answer for that. That one workload is 100% intels wheelhouse.

True. I think that would be a big footgun for them though. My friends and family use roku for my plex but load their own apps through it to bridge gaps. I can’t be the only one like that.

Pros: you run your web app as a local app without reprogramming your app. Cons: you are literally running a web app in a browser and not a native app.
