I'm old enough, and ugly enough, to remember the games built by teenagers of the 80's. Ultimate Play The Game (Rare) - Stamper Brothers in Ashby, Codemasters by the Darling brothers. I hope rpi takes off, it'll be interesting to see what

Good advice. A friend of mine dropped out of his Computer Science course but still went for a job at a games company Rare. He sent them his code for a rotating 3D light sourced car written in GW Basic, and got the job!

My wife worked in the city for one of the big banks. A chap who worked there was in a similar situation. He missed the train that had the bombers on board, but he decided to grab a bus to work instead. This also had one of the bombers up

I heard a while back they use your computer as a connection point to other Skype users. That's why I chosen not to use it over my 3g connection. Probably not true, but would make sense in this case to make it difficult to quit!

I clicked a few pages and thought it was great. I did wonder if you decided to supply starter templates. So I could start with Futurama's Bender and just increase the size of his head - however, I suppose copyright would come into play.

Great link I found it very readable, hope the guy does more. I intend to buy the book he recommends at the bottom as well.

I watched it live. Once the controller was confirmed I immediately thought about a feature Microsoft did in Vista called SideShow. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_SideShow

You remind me of the early 2000 Business Link companies. You rang up looking for advice, thinking it's a government initiative, but spend 70% of the time getting a hard sell for their web development sideline.

I graduated in '99 with a 2.1 CompSci degree - the year a Chinese chap threw himself off the top of an 10-storey engineering building because he couldn't go back with a 2.1 degree.

Do any of the principles of ML be applied to KPI / balanced scorecard applications? I have done some work with calculating simple linear regression but would like to move towards decision tree learning. Is this a good idea? or is there so

All you need to know is right here on this DVD http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0256408/ It's called Startup.com and shows the massive initial growth of Govworks web-site (300+ staff), but then things go South and their competitors catch them

I own RECTOID.COM, a colleague was trying to describe a shape and he came out with that. After a giggle I checked whois and was surprised it hadn't gone. So I ordered it and done nothing with it. It has a certain goatse tone about it.

I think I might be part of the problem. I came to HN accidentally while searching Google for video post-production tips. I normally get my social news fix on digg.com and have used them for the last 5-6 years, slashdot and ntk before it,

I think that's an interesting point. However, I do have to consider running sensitive performance data running on equipment we don't control or host. So, is it wise to run customers data on kit we don't own or host?
