So you're in favor of eliminating NN rules? TCP/IP is optimized for neutral nodes in a network, sure you're doing traffic engineering, throttling is already happening. At a network level this makes sense, doesn't make se

Good points. I think you overestimate first mover advantage here. It's not that people are already solving all these problems, it's that the solution he's come up with is not unique or compelling or distinct from those servic

Whoah! You're charging $348 dollars a year and you don't even have a professional video done yet? You are already expensive and this is an MVP! Also you have some 15 minute onboarding process. 15 minutes is like 150 years in web

Lost faith in the crowd here after reading these comments, against web scraping. Isn't this HACKERnews!? This is the same witch hunt mentality that ultimately lead to the prosecution of Aaron Swartz and look how that turned out. The an

Says who? Them? Right. If the info is on the web it's available to be consumed by humans or robots in a polite manner. Data wants to be free. Them trying to enforce their terms is another matter. Maybe it would hold up in court. Stupid

Thank you. Well said. I'm not sure why you're getting down voted. People think that lawyers and terms can control all aspects of life. It's beyond ridiculous that a TOS that most college graduates couldn't understand is

The law is often wrong and written by the more fortunate in society. The data is publicly available. The reasons this should not be an issue are self evident. Google scrapes trillions of sites every second of every day. Where's the out

Good for you. I completely agree with your sentiment re: scraping. It's ok if Google or another big company does it but god help you if you do as an indie dev. Thank you for sharing this. I commend you. I've scraped millions of re

I'm not saying it isn't a legitimate problem but I've never had it. For me, if we're not using git I could get the other dev's latest changes by simply doing a file copy of whatever I needed and then get it into my

I can appreciate your efforts here. It isn't trivial to put something like this together but I'm going to go ahead and state the obvious: Face to face is far superior to a solution such as this one for what I think are self eviden

If we can't figure out an engineering solution to this problem then it's game over. It always amazes me how much people and governments focus on prevention when it comes to climate change, knowing full well it's far too late

I never understood why so many devs flocked to AWS. I actually find their abstraction of services gets in the way and slows down my dev instead of making it easier like so many devs claim it does. I prefer Linode.

VR is the future but still distant IMHO when the headsets are this big. As it turns out it's not that comfortable wearing a screen on your face. This looks more like lipstick on a pig than the future of VR.

I'm glad this is the top comment. I was in China recently and was amazed by how functional and well developed the WeChat app is. I'm happy the Chinese government blocked Facebook, if only because it gave my intellect pause to thin

It doesn't. You'd have to scrape a site that had that data or check to see if they have an API. I believe there are sites that do this but as it wasn't core functionality of the MVP anyway we didn't focus on it too much.

Because signup isn't fully working yet. There's still a lot of bugs we hadn't worked out in the signup flow. SSL will be up when we get it working.

Movies in Tops page are based on what people are most interested in, which is a sobering thought. When first loaded the channel selection is random. But there are definitely some depressing/dark tags in the db.

Thank you. We have considered open sourcing but we need to clean some things up on the backend before doing so. Also we have some 3rd party tools that are not free that are part of the core functionality. So open sourcing might not make sen
