I'm pretty interested, but most concerned about keeping cross-compilation intact for ease-of-install as the community grows. Sooner or later, we'll have the resources to do cross-compilation and pcre. If you want to jump on the google gro

Regexps are slow-ish. Several MB/second/core for applying the pattern in https://github.com/onemorecloud/dendrite/blob/master/cookboo... , vs pcre at dozens of MB/second/core. We'll probably put pcre into Dendrite sooner or later. Dendri

Lumberjack seems protocol-specific ( https://github.com/jordansissel/lumberjack#future-protocol-d... ), whereas Dendrite aims to be agnostic. Most of the other log tailer/shippers are in java, so untenable for RAM-constrained environments.

Author here. I wrote this to power a distributed tail of all of our logs on websolr.com. This lets us do more advanced monitoring, and we'll start exposing logs and insights from logs to users directly pretty soon. Golang was a bunch of

I used to write level editors for a game called monospace when I was a kid. Still a pretty cool game. Here's a gameplay video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_K6yB3OsGs

You have a currency that requires a history of every transaction ever. Perhaps the hypothetical government is confident in its ability to unmask pseudonyms, and it will soon have access to everyone's financial history. </tinfoil>

I've always thought of a hyper-abstracted codebase being like a binary tree, lazy code being like a linked list, and optimal code being like a B-tree tuned for the page size and seek latency of your particular brain.

The grocery store is perhaps a mile away, and he perhaps goes twice a week? So that's 100 miles/year, two orders of magnitude away from the national average. It's also substantially less co2 production than a flight from SFO to Hawaii.

Scala has Tuples, so you can declare: val t = ("hello", 42) You guys should love this! It makes something Java-compatible (a Tuple2<String, Integer>), while being a bazillion times less verbose. The price for doing this in

Perhaps worth noting: java bytecode is a concatenative language. There are probably more commercially interesting java corpora than forth corpora. If you want to get paid to play around with this thought, my contact info is in my HN profile

Benchmarking on macbooks is often an exercise in testing the mediocre default configuration of the network stack, not your language. My macbook pro gets 4k rps with apache, node, go, and nginx. YMMV and all that, but I'm always wary.

Yeah, you want leastconn + app/router affinity. Affinity is the statement that all of your requests for an app go through one router (to avoid distributed connection state tracking). In the past, I've accomplished this by having the next l

Right now, heroku has one inbound load-balancer that's out of their control (probably ELB(s)). This load balancer hits another layer of mesh routers that heroku does control, and that perform all of herokus magic. In order for "intelligen
