Not really sure this is an unsolved problem in other contexts. For example, any good image viewer would have no-shimmering at all scales. You simply render your text as images and then apply the method already used by the image viewers.

Great talk. So he created cmake-ide for emacs. I'm wondering is there an equivalent for make projects. EDIT 1: The github page [1] says "It automatically detects Ninja and Make builds and sets the compile command accordingly"

I'm trying to get into refactoring (and even semantic analysis, and code-generation) for large C++ codebases using libclang, libtool, and the ilk. Any guides to get started, and/or best practices? Does it increase productivity by

Here are some examples (based on my limited experience) that hardly anyone could challenge: - Unix philosophy and the shell utilities (bash + C) - Emacs (lisp + C) - Python scientific stack (Python + C/FORTRAN) (Heck even Google had to

I'm in the exact same camp. I call it "two-language programming". Python+C beats the heck out of any single systems language, especially C++. And thanks to the amazing bloated complexity of the C++ language, the cognitive ove

Love it. I dream of the day when all current system-level fads bite the dust, replaced by new fads, while C is still running as the system layer. (hint: just like it is happening today with the 90s fad called C++, replaced by fads like Go,
