That's right, it simply means "cannot read and write" - but that's my point .. even in spite of the fact that the end assembly process was being done by folks who could not read/write (most of the time) they were st

I started the "Oric User Group" in Perth, WA, in 1983. We met about 6 times, each time mostly spent trading tapes. I had a dual-cassette boombox that was seriously pushed into service, and we also had "type-a-thons" wh

Also living in Europe, I find myself in awe of this fact quite often. There was a time when 'high technology' meant, knowing how to cut stone in such a way that it could be transported and assembled by an illiterate mob into a va

Its Heavens Gate and Raëlism that want the spaceships to land. Scientologists seem to just want them to be left buried in the mountain fortresses, unused.

An artist friend of mine is using this technology in an interesting way .. she's drawing regular street portraits of people she meets, and then using that as the seed to generate new pictures of people who do not exist. It has produced

Ubuntu Studio doesn't need to be compiled from scratch either, but easily provides better performance specs than MacOS out of the box.

Professional audio producers and musicians can just as easily gain a high-performance DAW by using Ubuntu Studio, out of the box. My system thus configured, runs REAPER far better than the MacBook or Windows machines that are in the studio

Like others, I'm finding that audio latency on Linux surpasses that of MacOS, easily. I am using Ubuntu Studio with Firewire-based audio interfaces, 50+ channels of digital audio - Linux definitely performs better than my MacOS system

All kinds of things. Mis-configured project defaults, typo's, additional formatting/UI tweaking, really a lot of productive things can be done in less than 6 minutes. Different strokes for different folks - just because you don&#

Pretty simple: 6 minutes is the minimum default for time tracking in my realm, per contract. Clients don't want multiple entries for 30 seconds or 2 minutes here and there - instead, we report in 10th's of an hour. I quite often
