The external USB sound card doesn’t always work because the USB supply voltage can vary with processor CPU. You need to use a USB headphone output with good isolation.

But then a silent build wouldn’t be interesting to you at all. The garage idea is good for someone who does want Silent computing.

Why not just put the computer in the adjacent different room and install a DisplayPort and USB patch panel on each side of the wall? Monitor and peripherals in one room and the computer on the other side. It’s what I would do if I owned a h

This kind of screening is extremely fucked up because average people are terrible statistical reasoners . A 99.999% accurate DNA test will find mostly innocent people if applied to a database of tens of millions of people. And even without

I don’t mean killing IPv4 - I mean all infrastructure and ISPs supporting IPv6 and treating IPv4 as legacy. Like V12 gasoline engines. They exist and are even produced today but the world has pretty much abandoned them.

I’d rather these run out even faster so we can just get on with IPv6. Why waste effort on these dying gasps of v4.

If I worked remotely I would never work from home. I’d work remotely from a separate one-room office and hopefully have my employer pay for that office.

Rent in SF is over $5 per square foot per month. So if your bike displaces the use of 6 square feet in your apartment you're paying $30 per month to house it. If you only want a bike a few times a year it's better to rent.

I think the bigger problem with the business model is that the things break down constantly. I usually have to check >5 of them to find one that works.

Wow, Tesla instantly went from my dream car (having replaced Bentley) to Do Not Buy. I simply will not buy a car or other dangerous equipment from a company that doesn’t care if I die and only cares about their brand.

This is probably FB people sitting on a few million bucks who have stayed due to inertia. Now being at FB looks icky to their friends and they have enough $ to say fuck it.

Dark team - this is a great idea that I used myself. I had a startup building an Excel-like product and we had a casual office in SF. We didn't pay anyone but got some consulting teams to come into our offices for a few days so we coul

Most likely effect of pushing this marketplace underground will be to reduce its size (total sex transactions per year) but make it much more dangerous for those who continue to participate (both buyers and sellers).

It's BS because no media company has ever operated its editorial fully independently of its revenue model, and if any has come close it's the old-school newspapers owned by fat cats, not startups reviewing tech products.
