Today I would recommend that anyone who plans to learn JS learns Lua first. It's similar enough, but simpler and you don't have to be concerned with all the browser-specific functions right away.

There is also a local proxy server (cannot remember the name but it has been around since the late 90s) that can do the same for any browser. Last time I looked at it, it was not intelligent and would preload every .html link on the page,

That could have interesting unintended consequences - ISPs being pressured to ban users who post blog comments with spelling errors.

I've always been slightly surprised that founders accept vesting at all. What is to stop the VC from firing you the day before your options mature? Then you would effectively have worked for them for free for 2 years, and for a low salary f

I cannot recommend Comodo. I paid for one of their certificates (through a re-seller) but they refused to issue it on the grounds that they could not verify my phone number. It was true that it was not in the directories they referred to,

I haven't used Mail.app since an incident about 2 years ago where it deleted a bunch of my messages. I was moving them from one folder to another when the connection to the server dropped. I don't know why this should happen with IMAP (it

Interesting - are Facebook users really better-behaved than average blog commenters? Or was it just that the lazier trolls gave up when their old cookies stopped working?

I hope that means "10% get it right first time" and not "only 10% can do it at all, even given a computer and a whole day to do it." Couldn't resist that challenge (although the thread is nearly 2 years old.) I think mine works, at least i

The only trouble I've ever had with MSE is that if you edit your hosts file to block the Facebook "like" button, MSE will pop up a warning and delete the www.facebook.com entry.
