Flashing bike lights are ubiquitous in the United States. I prefer them because I can distinguish a cyclist from what could be a slow car missing a tail light.

In this context, a non-deterministic system is stochastic. That means there's an inherent random probability in the behavior. Chaos has no "chance"; you get the same result with the same initial conditions.

I think about this often. I imagine self-driving cars built on 30 year old tech in which the road drives the car via curbside sensors (much easier problem to solve). I daydream about service reps walking through bumper-to-bumper traffic han

It’s becauese they are all copy-pasting the sample code middleware. A few minor changes are made, like advertising name and what not, but I’ve seen literal dupes supplied by the same Taiwanese vendor. And like most sample code, the error ha

I challenge you to make a 1/3 cut in meter length wood using a metric ruler. Must be accurate to 1/128 inch (0.2mm), the tolerance used in fine woodworking.

Can you elaborate on this? I understand that engine combustion is affected, but how does that impact the transmission? Is the torque curve skewed? Are ambient air changes not compsensated by the O2 sensor? Or does the transmission oil chang

I like this idea, but I wonder, would that be a net neutrality violation? Honest question, because I can easily imagine this being rephrased: “If you don’t pay for the extra news package, you cannot access NYT for free”.

Just a nitpick, but I think you meant particle board instead of plywood. High quality plywood is composed of several thin sheets of hardwood in which the grain of each runs perpendicular to it’s neighbor. This makes is stronger than pure h
