Is using pypy a reasonable default? Who's there to make that choice? I suppose the answer is "no", while it makes sense to use it while benchmarking.

Ok. Maybe people leaving in the US don't know about that, but spending time with US border officials is absolutely normal on the entry to the US. I travel to the US about once a year, and my times spent on the border look roughly like this

Can you find some documents under which circumstances this is a crime? I find that you should not do that for money or in court on wikipedia, but I somehow fail to find that "giving advice" or even "drafting legal documents" can be a cr

FB IPO is bad for the inflated startup world around the FB ecosystem. All stuff "social" and "connected". It's hopefully good for everyone else who is bringing some value, but was turned down/undervalued, because they're not social enough.

According to forbes [ http://people.forbes.com/profile/timothy-d-cook/6607 ] he has 52bln$ in stock. He's just giving up on loose change. This is comparable to me giving up back to the company around $30, I think I would not have a problem

PyPy is officially sanctioned as python 2.7 interpreter. Cannot run scientific code does not rule it out. This is more a problem on the scientific code being too implementation specific (for good reasons though). This is known to be a pro

I think you missed the point. The job will be performed whether the person is on the soil or not. It's next to completely irrelevant whether you accept someone or not - he'll do the job anyway with modern IT infrastructure. That's obvious

Typically you have enough credibility to go and find a better job. Also, if you're a person living out of open source, it's relatively easy to check your credibility and how easy it is for you to find a job. "I wrote an obscure clock in pyt

So in my experience this works incredibly well as long as everyone is generally willing to cooperate. A single person that has dictatorial inclination can ruin it all, because you can no longer reach consensus on pretty much any topic. You

that's the point - the analogy does not work. A difference in performance between an average worker and an exceptional one is not very large. The difference between an average programmer and a good one can be between having or not having st

Cython is both differently defined and serves a different purpose. First of all, RPython is runnable , Cython is not. RPython has type inference, but more importantly, because it works from live objects, it has Python as a metaprogramming

I guess I should clarify that - performance sucks. There are obviously various ways around it, but you just can't write a lot of performance critical python that way and I guess this is one of the reasons why julia exists in the first place
