Switzerland is very special for multiple reasons. They have a direct democracy, federal system with very small cantons (equivalent of states) and until very recently every mail had an assault rifle at home. They're also very law-abiding cit

May I ask how gun control is not a tool to deal with that? In other words, what are the differences between Americans and Europeans that prevent most of such violence happening in Europe (mostly at least), other than hard access to guns?

er no. iPad is broken. If apple provides a platform that doesn't respect standards and disallows other browsers from working as they're intended to, it does not mean the entire world that does not feel like supporting the walled garden is

indeed, python does not specify the complexity, it's just what everyone expects. Anyway, my problem is not with "not quite Python", my problem is with calling it "Python". As long as you call it "a language with Python inspired syntax", it'

I'm genuinely shocked that this made it to the top of hackernews. I would expect better. While the idea of having the Python interpreter in the browser is very likely better than having a compiler Python -> JS (if we care about Python),

I wonder where do you take your experience from. I do pretty much all of what you described and while yes, there are definitely jerks around, there is no correlation between the level and jerkness. Maybe it's just hard to become "the best"

This completely doesn't ring the bell for me, but maybe Python community that I typically interact with is different. Maybe we're such jerks that we don't even know how much of jerks we're.

You're bringing a strawman. Obviously having an operation is slightly worse than learning english. Regarding the utility - the final utility of male and female company is known to be better than a male only one, even if for a short period o

The argument comparing to gay/woman is just a fallacy. you can learn english, everyone can. You cannot stop being a woman or being gay (despite the latter being argued many times in the past). And you should learn english. The problem is no

How are you supposed to know this link if you have no facebook account? It's not on the company page, it's nowhere available unless someone either sends it to you directly or you have a facebook account.

None. The life on earth as we know it in a traditional sense is based on carbon-based compounds. You can use anything else that forms polymers essentially, but carbon happened to happen.

It's not completely true. Google news does host all the content for some pages (I have no idea if they have the agreement or not). This might depend on the country though as I can't see anything right now that looks like that.

it's a technical way to prevent google from reaching your site. You easily can do it right now (even better, use robots.txt instead of obscure hacks), but the publishers don't want it. They don't want google to stop showing their content, t

Well. the luaJIT benchmark page does not contain any large benchmarks, while it does contain computer language shootout ones which are small. There might be many many legitimate reasons for that, but it does imply that LuaJIT cares for smal

Hi Mike. Seriously, I would not try to say LuaJIT is worse than PyPy, ever. I picked richards, because it's the best benchmark from the set I know, while still being not a very good one. I'm all for saying "this is a bad benchmark". I think

The problem really is Python import semantics. As soon as you can provide me with a way to say "this imported code is identical to the one you loaded before", I'm fine with providing a way to save the JIT state. Note that "identical" means

There is very limited data for non-artificial and non-numeric benchmarks for Lua and Python, so treat it all with a grain of salt. PyPy mostly cares about large scale programs (thanks to a large quantity of Python libraries it's not that ha

iOS does not allow you to run any sort of non-apple just-in-time compiler (there is no public API to get executable mmaped pages to be precise), so a no go, you cannot.
