So we have seen the countless denial articles, then the anger articles when Apple introduced the developer agreement change, we have seen a bit of bargaining with Adobe kinda threatening a lawsuit and developers swearing to switch to Androi

Actually this might backfire as Canonical has made some pretty strange decisions lately and is a corporation after all, just a much smaller one. What's wrong with something community driven such as Debian or FreeBSD ?

Perhaps someone should point out that Matt Mackall is the creator and lead developer of Mercurial (according to wikipedia). I've been using Mercurial for some time but I had no idea who was the author of that email. What I would like to see

Considering Palm is looking for a buyer and their chief developer just resigned, does it really matter that a dev account is now free ? I looks to me more like a sign that the whole thing might be discontinued shortly so why would anyone in

This was a bit obvious and yet surprising: > That may be because data show that people are more trusting and comfortable working with people of their own sex, says Toby Stuart, a Harvard Business School professor who studies the topic.

I think this is the kind of blogpost someone writes when they are angry, but not necessarily assertive. He's just installing Ubuntu on his Apple laptop, that's all! And pretty soon he'll miss something from OSX and then -- dual boot. Next t

I don't think the patents itself are wrong but the broken patent system which accepts obvious ideas (1 click patent ?), limits itself to the big boys and then grants large patent terms. Also, the patent shouldn't be on the idea, but on the

Sole proprietorship is pretty easy to do in some EU countries. Then again, in might have a different juridic status so an LLC is preferable. But I wouldn't focus only on how simple/cheap doing an LLC is, we should look at the total cost of

I own the book and if I want to see the bibliography I can pretty much see it there. So this article might be useful but I can't imagine many people going through GEB's bibliography in order to get some new reading material.

Regarding a) I would say brand recognition sure helps. Regarding b) I'm not so sure. "Genius" might start to recommend it, but I would like to see how fast it will become a "staff pick".

So you paid the US sales tax and the UK VAT ? It seems the Bundlebox guys didn't think this through -- they should perhaps relocate in a state without sales tax ? You are basically paying VAT twice.

Yeah, and then Apple would be surprised by the huge US demand, no ? Of course anybody wanting the iPad already did something similar but it's a drag and non-US developers/companies shouldn't "smuggle" iPads out of the country but buy them i

Yes, it's a real shame that Apple treats developers this way. They are expected to develop top-quality apps but only using the Simulator. A more normal behavior would have been to provide international developers a way to order iPads from d

I'm having a hard time understanding what the Bespin license and structure is. More to the point, this "release" seems to point towards a "server-only" update, which doesn't seem to have a source code repository. So -- they are releasing an

That was actually an interesting approach, but still doesn't seem logic. You can't actually develop a Flash app without using the iPhone OS so then you have to follow the C/C++/ObjC rule. But if the author is counting on "not using the SDK"

The thing is Adobe is a corporate with standard management that would never be able to "think" of something like this. They have no "soul" (corporate culture) nor anybody with sufficient power and vision to at least try something like this.
