Wow, this sounds very similar to an idea I started working on last year ( http://playrelay.io ) right before my daughter was born. Someday I will get back to it. Good luck!

I should dust off my NodeRed project from last year. It provided a neat pubsub system for node.js and redis.

Neat. I did something similar for my graduate thesis project a couple of years ago, but to play pool/billiards on the computer using real cue sticks (for practice and feel) http://mixedrealitybilliards.com

I would just forgo the launch image for Instapaper then. Just get the UI up as quickly as possible. Also, supporting "multitasking" on iOS 4 helps with getting the UI up quickly when brought into the foreground.

Sorry I was unclear. Multiplayer on iOS is a huge market. But with Apple providing peer-to-peer built-in a hosted solution such as PlayRelay might not find many fans. Game Center might be "good enough". That is why I am trying to add things

I know Readability is a bookmarklet but your comment made me search the FF add-ons for a Readability add-on that was applied to every page I visit automatically. That might be a nice hack.
