Is it the "forced" part that yields results, or the simple fact that it was more exercise? The article said they were forced to go at a speed faster than what they were comfortable with, yet the rodent study had them forced to go slower tha

Haha, this happens to me a lot when learning new libraries or frameworks. My current solution is to just search StackOverflow with what I'm trying to do. Often, the Right Way is posted as a snippet, but even if there are no directly pertine

Yes, this is what I was thinking. Could we teach people mental techniques to "delude" themselves into getting better? Kinda reminds me of doublethink from 1984.

And, of course, the submission title uses the entire word AND the asterisk, which is perhaps an attempt to poke fun? Or just a funny mistake.

This is what I've been suspecting after reading dozens of tutorials and examples on all manner of game-related APIs and libraries. It seems like game programmers as a whole care less about code organization, style, and all the other values

I'm happy to see him using Paint.NET to edit the graphics. I've yet to see a free image editor that remotely compares in usability and power; I just wish it were available for Mac and/or Linux. Not affiliated with it or anything.

From Wikipedia: "There is some contention about the all-caps spelling "PERL", which the documentation declares incorrect[28] and which some core community members consider a sign of outsiders.[29] The name is occasionally backronymed as Pra

But isn't the idea of homeopathy to consume miniscule amounts of things that are toxic in large quantities, like arsenic? In that case, cleaned sewer water should be good for you.

I created a small Javascript bookmarklet that lets you type Dvorak in any textbox on the web, for when you can't change the computer's layout for whatever reason. It's helped me a ton when I'm on public computers: http://fferen.wordpress.c

A while ago I compiled a list of unicode characters that looked like letters, to get past curse filters. Not comprehensive, because I just manually skimmed through a unicode table, but here it is if anyone cares: Wide letters: A B C D E
