Why does it matter who came up with the idea for bitcoin? The protocol and the code are freely available for anyone to review. I don't understand why people are pursuing a guy who didn't do anything wrong and doesn't want to be found.

This is heartening news because connectivity is becoming a commodity. Will anything come of it? Recently net neutrality ended and now we have 250 GB/Month bandwidth caps as Comcast customers. I'm not worried about ever hitting that cap, but

I think the second part needed to be long to make your point clear. I think it worked. Since we aren't machines, sometimes we express ourselves in long rambling thoughts. That's okay and, when it's not we have Editors.

This immediately made me think of the line from Desiderata. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Full text on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedi

The researchers, in collaboration with the University of Western Australia, have chemically re-engineered ecstasy by taking some atoms away and putting new ones in their place. That sounds like a nod to Mitch Hedburg's line about fixing o

I was caught off guard by the first line, where the author uses PHP as one of the examples of an environment out-of-touch with hardware issues. I started to learn how to program in PHP. Back then there was a sentiment that PHP and similar h

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I believe that section 1 contains mistakes. In the implementations of evens_only, shouldn't both of the places where modulus is used be preceded by "not"? This isn't meant to detract from the truth that "Beauti

One could argue that a filesystem which contains two files, one in ASCII and one in EBCDIC, is on the whole just single mapping of characters to numbers. Your point isn't well argued. What I'm suggesting differs in that it would use consist

This article presents some interesting consequences of using a unified map from numbers to glyphs for all the plethora of human languages. Perhaps instead of Unicode there could have been an established way to change character encoding mid-

The fact that we have to rely on the nature of bureaucracy scares me. It shows that rationality and human decency are failing. I do not believe that current attempts to control internet access and content are being micro-examined end to end
