The broadband connection usually has latency depending on the protocol. ADSL2+ with data interleaving can be as high as 32ms. DOCSIS has at least 5ms for the first hop too. And that assumes your ISP's (or whichever) DNS server is close

To be honest, the video in TFA looks like something out of a 2009 game, it's not particularly impressive. And I guess it'll probably be a rolling demo, not having the requirements of a complete game that also has to handle a bunch

The competitive games I have first-hand experience with(LoL, DOTA2, World of Tanks) have no pay-to-win elements and the different heroes/items/tanks/ are all balanced. And this whole discussion is about f2p games with microtr

Skill-based matchmaking is better. Furthemore, pay-to-win elements cannot be justified, even as a boost for weaker players in games that revolve around PVP competition. Skilled players will exploit them and create havoc in the overall balan

Well, mastering engineers rarely heavily clip audio (ok, Death Magnetic, but that's an exception rather than the rule). What they do is apply heavy dynamic range compression. Even in cases the signal clips lightly, it probably won'

While any software that accesses an audio interface using integer formats, VLC is to my knowledge the only average user-oriented program that can end up in such situations. I would suggest VLC disables this feature for new installs and move

Analog limiter ICs (that I know of) limit the signal according to input voltage, something that does not catch this issue. Furthermore, limiting power at the audio codec level would require for the codec to have that feature and I don'

While I don't support Dell's decisions, digital (and analog) clipping can easily damage speakers driven at what is normally their maximum power they can handle, since the resulting clipped waveform carries a lot more energy than a

It's very hazy. If the userland (running atop of the Linux kernel) is closed source then there's few things you can do. Also, you can't just rip out binaries and redistribute them at will, EULAs usually forbid it.

Maximum theoretical bandwidth may not have increased at the same pace but modern memory controllers are a lot more efficient. I'd wager that the CPUs are kept adequately fed even without extremely fast RAM like on GPUs.
