Anyone in the automotive space that says "by 20xx" can be essentially immediately discredited at this point. You can blame Google/Waymo for saying self-driving cars would be available to the general public by 2017.

The super low-cost version of this is a magnifying glass and a shoebox - it works surprisingly well if you're only throwing a few feet in a dark room.

This is great sci-fi fodder, imagine if you could land a tiny craft on that thing and then use the hydrogen as fuel without having to haul all that fuel into deep space (very unlikely to be practical but the idea is exciting).
