I was speaking yesterday, and I agree that the setup seems less than ideal when walking past the speaker areas. That being said, if you're taking a seat, you're entering the audio zone, and while not perfect, you could understand the speake

Yeah, except they seem to also provide photo hosting and tooling beyond that. We are purely focused on upload and processing so far.

Agreed. I usually end up doing the opposite in node, whenever there is an existing *nix tool for a job, I'll spawn that from my node process rather than reimplementing it. Node's child process machinery is the best I've seen so far. (Discla

IANAL, but you can use node.js as long as you make it clear you are not associated with the project and joyent holds the trademark.

Our website is written in CakePHP. That decision made sense ~2 years ago when there was no express, npm, etc. combined with the fact that we were former CakePHP core contributors. If we were to do it again now, we'd do the website in node.j

I have a binding for *nix fork() here: https://github.com/felixge/node-nix However, you need to know what you are doing, otherwise you'll have multiple processes draining the same file descriptors which will give you some nice surprises :

0.5 rips apart the whole event loop system and replaces it with a new one to support windows. It's much more unstable than 0.3 in that respect, which has mostly just seen API changes and feature additions.

Question: Does the franky example make use of both of your cores? Express and Sinatra are probably just using a single core out of the box.

This book is my top recommendation for programmers who want to learn JavaScript. The pace is perfect, and even people who are already familiar with JavaScript can get something out of it. Just bought myself a copy.

I'm not saying it can't be done. In fact the multipart parser we have build for transloadit has already been ported to C++ [1] and I imagine Java has decent libraries as well. But most people just sit on a request/response oriented Python/R

Because most stacks don't have a single threaded, non-blocking I/O event loop. Sure you can do this with threads, but it's gonna get very tricky to pump data between a socket, file and process using threaded programming.
