The clojure example is using a library. There are libraries for node that make the process handling just as easy. Anyway, I think you are mistaken if you believe a clojure http server could outperform it's node counterpart. I mean node is r

Node is only using the threadpool for system calls that have no non-blocking counterparts. Networking is done without any thread pool involved AFAIK.

Node's requests/second scale linearly with the amount of processes used. Here is an example for doing that: http://gist.github.com/430932 So node would probably outperform the given clojure example by 13.5K req/s vs. 8.5k req/s (YMMV). It

There are 2 Problems here: a) Opening gmail to compose an email b) Opening gmail to look up an email In either case I don't want to be seeing any new email. This solution works somewhat well for problem a), but what I'd love to see is this:

Node.js should have the potential to eat the same lunch as Mongrel2. Now that pre-forking is possible, node can do 6-10k http requests / sec per CPU core. That leaves plenty of room for dispatching requests to any backends. And you get full

Very interesting approach. Is this already taking care of releasing buffers after they've been tap'ed into?

That is done in Buffer.toString(), this stream filter just makes sure that no string conversion is attempted on a multibyte character that is still incomplete (valid or not).

I didn't know % gets encoded. So you're right, your code does work : )

Don't use this, it's broken. Any % sign in your text will screw things. 3-4 byte characters are not handled by it at all.

The author of nginx, Igor Sysoev, actually investigated on this and decided creating contexts in V8 is too slow (2ms) for being used in such a manner: http://translate.google.ru/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl...

Lessons learned from somebody who wrote a pretty large node app and is almost done with a rewrite: * Yes, async coding is hard. * Debugging can be tough, but good coding helps. * 95% of most node apps will be pure JS that does not perform a

You need to create a new client for each incoming request. In your code, you are actually queuing up all responses. So your result is probably an order of magnitude off.

So if you provide a service for just encoding video to H.264 (using ffmpeg)), without streaming the videos to end users, you are already deep into patent trouble?

This is the stuff they are benchmarking for: http://github.com/MadRabbit/taskspeed/blob/master/tests/jq-t... There is literally no isolation between what is being tested and how much performance goes into unrelated operations. Example: Th

I'm currently working on porting dojo.Deferreds to node.js. On top of them I am also working on some API sugar that makes it really easy to aggregate the results of multiple deferreds: (group) ('a', db.query('SELECT A ...'))
