Seeing canvas used always makes me sad. Why can’t maps use SVG? If there are blockers for that, I’d rather see the web resolve those. canvas is a black box for screen readers, crawlers, the semantic web. You end up reimplementing a DOM anyw

The reality is that Apple’s Lightning cables don’t last forever anyway (some even say they have terrible durability) and hundreds are replaced every day somewhere in the world, on a cadence of every few years max. Introducing legislation me

There is definitely stuff that is non-standard, like the casting with :: in addition to CAST AS. But it's true that PSQL sticks very closely to the standard or only adds on top of it, while MySQL is very uncomformant. Funnily enough, I

I cannot comprehend why GitHub chose to let people define the form elements in YAML (!) instead of simply allowing <input>, <select> and <textarea> in Markdown. One of the most beautiful aspects of Markdown is that it supp

JavaScript engines like V8 can already do exactly as you said through hidden classes based on source code position and have been doing so for a long time. I haven't read any evidence that classes are actually better optimized, even if

Design tools are also severely lacking here. Even modern tools like Figma have no way to manage copy well (e.g. swap out copy for different "sets" of strings to test the design with variable-length translations). Heck, you can
