What's new/exciting/different about ClojureScript? No one has really made it clear here. Edit: Trimmed unnecessary banter as it's a genuine question.

"Just because people are excited about developments in the Clojure ecosystem..." Good point. My comment was more of a response to the "thought provoking" part rather than being excited about ClojureScript itself.

So the only reason it's a big deal is because it's Clojure? It was only a matter of time this library was written by somebody. Edit: I guess this somebody also happens to be Rich Hickey. Indeed it would be a big deal if John McCarthy had

I'm glad for the Clojure community if this didn't exist before, but I'm pretty sure Lispers (ie Common Lispers) have written "entire" web apps in Lisp for quite a while[1]. For example, Kenny Tilton wrote a Lisp wrapper to qooxdoo on top of

You mean other than Parenscript[1], which seems to have been written about 4 years ago? Edit: Parenscript was just the first to come to mind, but check out http://www.cliki.net/JavaScript [1] http://common-lisp.net/project/parenscript/

Silly question, why do you eat at your desk? And do you actually type in any code, or do you just look at your code and think about stuff in your mind? It seems like you take breaks outside, but for me there's nothing like taking 30 mins t

Heh not sure if you followed my profile and found my blog, but that's exactly why I am looking for an alternative. It really improved when they added Markdown support[1], but Common Lisp isn't a supported language. Also, embedded gists di

Except with your set up, the OCR'ing software is independent from the scanning software, so presumably one can scan while OCR'ing. (See reply to my other comment: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2589018 )

We're using the Aristo theme as well with qooxdoo. Qooxdoo's theming framework is pretty nice, although I haven't tried jQuery's. http://news.qooxdoo.org/aristo-theme

Honest question: does the Unix philosophy apply to all kinds of software? I am curious to know if it's fair to compare typical Unix software (CLI-based, text-based --- usually system software is what comes to mind) with application software

They are basically the same macros, but without the use of bindings (more brevity). So if-let and when-let are not really anaphoric. In Common Lisp, I use b-when and b-if that Kenny Tilton wrote: (defmacro b-when (bindvar boundform &#

Strong statement there. How many IDE's have you tried? You should qualify your statement a bit. Maybe it's the best one _you've_ tried, or you could even argue it's the best IDE for C# / .NET (which I'm not sure is true either, but I hav
