These intermediary devices vastly outnumber our routers and are a huge part of the "internet sucks" problem.

The event was literally moved to a different time UTC. I'm glad we agreed that it was rescheduled. UTC is still the correct way to store it if you want it to be timezone-aware. If every event a specific application needs to be at local

Congratulations you literally just rescheduled the event. This is not a timezone issue. The date should still be stored as UTC.

UTC is an anchor. It does not change, it is never wrong. Your application or environment may live under different rules because of location but that problem can be solved by the timezone-aware application. If I am scheduling an event at 08:

I disagree. Storing as UTC is the only sane way. It will never get corrupted. Calculating the timezone difference for the user is not that hard and won't result in a database full of mistakes you have to scramble to fix.

Yes, there's truth in it. It's takes time for them to be caught and punished, and the Certificate Transparency effort will make it much more difficult for these scumbags to do so.

Linux is not that great at compatibility with old code or old binaries. Windows has always been better at this. An example of a *nix with good backwards compat is FreeBSD. The FreeBSD cluster has binaries from FreeBSD 2 (1994) that still ru

We're talking about bleeding edge features that were just created, and yes they're often modeled upstream in Illumos. However, there are other features that have been created by companies using FreeBSD first. But they tend to ge

I wish people would stop with the FUD here. Matthew Ahrens has publicly stated that FreeBSD and Solaris derivatives are equal as far as ZFS goes and OSX and Linux are trailing behind.

Sure, but this capability isn't unique to Yubikey. The question was just worded confusingly. Really it's just "ssh key on a smart card".

I guess it depends on what you mean? I have yubikey 2FA on my servers for SSH, but also have SSH keys. I use SSH keys when I can, and yubikey when I don't have my SSH keys handy. I suppose if you're doing yubikey+password auth and

Yeah, looks like Windows has it too. Strange. I loathe the idea that you need a "supported OS" to get a fix for your CPU that should work as intended. :)

I hope they bring this Night Shift to OSX as well, just for consistency. I've used Flux for years, but it does have some quirks like when waking from sleep.

Jails don't have to run a whole OS (init et all) You can make lightweight (single process) jails. People have been doing this for years.

Jordan is pushing this into FreeNAS/TrueNAS and NextBSD. He would love to see this happen in FreeBSD as well, but from what I've seen it isn't moving anywhere.

there is no proof of this. Several FreeBSD derivatives might (FreeNAS for example), but there is no definitive sign that a systemd-like approach is coming to FreeBSD. (The FreeBSD core team appears to strongly dislike all the currently prop
